Meet Emily

Certified Career Empowerment Coach

Hey! My name’s Emily and I am a career empowerment coach!

I spent the majority of my youth in the Metro DC area and made a big transition in 2013 to move across the country, away from my friends and family to live in beautiful San Diego, CA. Since it’s nice weather year-round, I get to enjoy playing beach volleyball, co-ed floor hockey and Buti yoga (check it out if you’re not familiar!) Listening to guided meditations and writing in my gratitude journal have made a significantly positive impact in my life over the last year. I enjoy spending time with my partner and our pup child, Cali (short for California… clever, I know 😉) I love Thai food and exploring the world around me. I’ll admit that I am a bit of a serial planner – I usually have some sort of a rough itinerary whenever we go somewhere and balance that out with my strong desire to have fun and laugh along the way. I yearn to connect deeply with people and prefer quality over quantity when it comes to my relationships.

I have spent the last 11 years in the Human Resources field, growing progressively in my career and working in a handful of different industries – software, accounting, insurance, retail, higher education. When it comes to my progressive career growth, I have had extensive experience in the job search realm - interviewing for jobs, negotiating my salary, utilizing my network, and revamping my resume to the different styles of jobs I was looking for. On the flip side of that, I have also been a hiring manager, along with an HR professional, so I have seen boat loads of resumes and know what recruiters and hiring managers are looking for.

I had been second guessing my career in HR for a few years and then in early 2021, I had that life change coaching call with a well-respected coach and I finally said out loud what I had been thinking internally for so many years – “I want to help people and I can’t do it the way I want to if I’m in HR”. I enrolled in a year- long coaching certification program, ‘Transformational Coaching Essentials’ through McLaren Coaching and it has been a life changer! I am now a certified life coach and I get to work with individuals, empowering them to see possibilities outside their current line of sight.

One of my biggest passions is supporting working professionals in taking a STAND for themselves. Witnessing that stand is so powerful and I get such a kick out of being a part of others’ journeys!

So, what does ‘take a stand for themselves’ mean? I’m glad you asked! Perhaps one or more of these situations speaks to you…

  • I want to ask for a promotion or pay raise at work

  • I want to feel more confidence in how I carry myself

  • I am in the market for a new job or career path

  • I want to set clearer boundaries so that I don’t resent others and how I get treated

  • I want to discover my passions and values and how I can live with more vibrancy in life

  • I’m looking to balance everything going on in my life, so I can feel more empowered

I get such joy out of acknowledging my clients and celebrating them at the end of our time together. It’s one of my favorite parts about being a coach! Let’s work together and take a stand in your life!
